August’s athlete is Leo!
One of the long-time mainstays of the CFT community, Leo is the WOD-killa. The prime case of leading by example. Not only that, but he’s one of the more supportive athletes in the gym, giving out words of encouragement if he notices you struggling. You’re about to find out more from the man himself!
CFT: Where are you from?
Leo: Winthrop
CFT: How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Leo: Don’t remember exactly. I think over 4 years?
CFT: Did you have a fitness background prior to starting CrossFit?
Leo: I played sports
CFT: What motivated you to try CrossFit?
Leo: I always found Crossfit a bit intimidating and it wasn’t until my friend Matt opened a box in Winthrop that allowed me to try it for the first time.
CFT: If you could program your dream WOD, what would it be?
Leo: 5 RFT
5 Bar Muscleups
4 Handstand Pushups
3 Thrusters (155/105)
2 Hang Power Cleans (155/105)
1k Row
CFT: What is your proudest accomplishment since joining CFT?
Leo: It was probably my first bar muscle up. Took a long time to get it.
CFT: How has CFT helped you in your everyday life?
Leo: CFT has helped me prioritize certain aspects of my life that allow me to be a healthier person. At the end of the day, those workouts are the litmus tests for all of the daily decisions I make and having them to do later in the day has been really motivating.
CFT: What do you like to do outside of the gym?
Leo: I like to design things, take photos, kayak, bike, swim, play basketball, people watch, and some other stuff I can’t remember at the moment
CFT: What is your favorite song to workout to?
Leo: Black by Sevendust
CFT: Parting thoughts?
Leo: For me, CFT has always represented a diverse group of people sharing their pain and growth together on an almost daily basis, regardless of whatever else is going on in life at the moment. It’s been really gratifying and encouraging to be part of that and to see people actually changing their lives for the better.
