Athlete of the Month – October 2018

October’s AOM is Amy!
Being a relatively new CFT athlete, Amy has quickly integrated with the community and recently helped out at the I Love Winthrop 5k before running the race herself! Let’s hear more from her!

Athlete Interview
CFT: Where are you from?
Amy: Westbrook, CT

CFT: How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Amy: I did CrossFit in Miami for a few months before I moved here, but I’ve been with Tradewinds since March.

CFT: Did you have a fitness background prior to starting CrossFit?
Amy: I was an athlete growing up so fitness has always been a big part of my life.

CFT: What motivated you to try CrossFit?
Amy: CrossFit is the closest thing you get to team lift! Being a former athlete I missed the camaraderie of working out as a team.

CFT: If you could program your dream WOD, what would it be?
Amy: Strength day! Back squats, snatches, cleans… basically anything with a barbell (except thrusters…woof)

CFT: What is your proudest accomplishment since joining CFT?
Amy: My last InBody scan! I lost 6 pounds of fat and did not lose muscle!

CFT: How has CFT helped you in your everyday life?
Amy: I’m really active in my free time and CrossFit has helped me become a better athlete in those activities. I’d like to say that it has made stairs easier… but that would be a lie haha!

CFT: What do you like to do outside of the gym?
Amy: I love playing hockey, skiing, paddle boarding, golfing, hiking and spending time with family and friends! And of course my dog, Levi 🙂

CFT: What is your favorite song to workout to?
Amy: I feel like this changes weekly as I find new music, but most recently it has been Complete (Lucky Rose Remix) by Osborne.

CFT: Anything else you’d like to share with the CFT community?
Amy: I have really enjoyed my time at Tradewinds so far! I really appreciated all of the support when I broke my elbow. All of the coaches helped me adapt all of the WODs so that I could still workout during my injury! Now that I am back on the barbell I feel more lean, and stronger than before! Now if I could just get that scoop under my snatch… baby steps.. 🙂
