The Best Way to Warm Up

The weather in New England has finally transitioned over to more chilly days than mild, and it’s only going to get colder. Such drastic changes in temps can throw off your routine. Who hasn’t woken up early to go to the gym, only to roll back over because it’s just too darn cold to get out of bed yet, much less leave the house? 

Like we talked about in last month’s newsletter, you can get that W by committing to getting out of bed and getting out there to do whatever it is you do to get and stay fit. Exercise it the best way to get yourself warmed up physically and mentally, no matter what time it is, and as always your friends at CFT are there to help you!

Todd is your Athlete for November!
Todd is one of the hardest working athletes at the gym! He’s been with us for a while, and you’ll often find him participating in a lot of our events and throwdowns and, well, let’s have the man tell us all more!  

Athlete Interview
CFT: Where are you from? 
Todd: Winthrop my whole life
 
CFT: How long have you been doing CrossFit? 
Todd: 2.5 years

CFT: Did you have a fitness background prior to starting CrossFit? 
Todd: Yes, I used to do the regular gym rat routine. I wouldn’t say it was much of a “background”, but more of a “just want to get a workout”. In my later years…

Tradewinds Lift Off
Saturday, November 17, 2018

The work is done, the time has come…
Do you have what it takes?

Don’t miss out on Tradewinds’ first ever individual weight lifting competition!

Participants will have the opportunity to test their heaviest lift in the Back Squat, Clean, Snatch, and a Bear Complex (1 Power Clean, 1 Front Squat, 1 Push Press, 1 Back Squat, 1 Push Press).

Athletes will be given 3 attempts to hit a max effort lift in all 4 lifts listed above. Scores will be total weight divided by bodyweight to find the best pound for pound lifter.

Registration closes on Saturday, 11/3!

Barbell Group Class
There are 3 more Barbell group classes remaining this year and limited spots are still open! The remaining dates are Saturday, 11/3, Wednesday, 11/7 & Saturday, 11/10.

Program Details
This new 1 hour Barbell group class will runs on Wednesdays at 8pm and Saturdays at 8am. Drop-ins to the Barbell group class are $30 per class on a first reserve basis.

Thanksgiving Community Workout
Thursday, November 22 | 10am 

Join CrossFit Tradewinds for a Thanksgiving Community Workout on Thursday, November 22 at 10am. Guests are welcome to attend this free community workout but must sign a waiver if they are new to Tradewinds and sign-up for class on WOD Together.

   November Food Drive   

We will be hosting our 3nd Annual Food Drive to help out the Winthrop Veteran’s & Family Food Pantry during this holiday season. From Friday, November 2 through Monday, November 12, we will be collecting non-perishable food items as well as cash donations. All donations will be distributed to the pantry on Tuesday, November 13.

 

  Schedule Updates – November 2018   

  • Only one group class on 11/12 at 10am (Veterans Day)
  • No open gym on 11/17
  • Only 2 group classes on 11/21 – 5:30am & 12pm 
  • Only 1 group class on 11/22 at 10am (Thanksgiving)
  • Only 1 group classes on 11/23 at 10am
  • 1 Hour Open gym on 11/23 at 11am
