Our next Athlete of the Month is Hakima!

Since joining us in September 2025, Hakima has been a steady, positive presence in our community and a familiar, welcoming face in our group classes and at studio events. As a busy working mom, she shows up with consistency, energy, and a great attitude—no matter what kind of day she’s had.

She’s also known for her love of shopping, her easygoing sense of fun, and that signature smile that instantly lifts the room. Hakima brings a light, upbeat energy to every class, and we’re lucky to have her as part of our community.

Hakima’s AOM Interview: 

TW: Where are you from?

Hakima: I moved around quite a bit growing up. 

TW: What do you do for work?

Hakima: I own a marketing and sales business

TW: How long have you been at Tradewinds? 

Hakima: I’ve been coming since September 2025

TW: What motivated you to try Tradewinds? 

Hakima: I was looking for something local. I liked the idea of group workouts. 

TW: What class or session time do you usually attend? 

Hakima: 8:15 AM group class

TW: Did you have a fitness background prior to starting at Tradewinds? 

Hakima: Yes I’ve always been into working out and staying active. 

TW: If you could program your dream workout, what would it be? 

Hakima: I’ll leave that up to Andy and Mary. They’ve been doing an amazing job. I couldn’t be more happy with the results of how I look and feel. 

TW: What is your favorite food? 

Hakima: I’m sure the entire gym could answer this. Pizza!!! 

TW: What is your proudest accomplishment since joining Tradewinds? 

Hakima: When I first joined I had trouble going up the stairs because of knee pain. Through baby steps and consistency I no longer have this problem. In fact I spent a day bringing furniture up and down three flights or stairs without feeling a thing. So really getting my strength back has been a huge blessing. 

TW: How has Tradewinds helped you in your everyday life? 

Hakima: I have more confidence, strength and overall feel more positive. I’m also significantly less stressed. I love telling my kids about my accomplishments and seeing them be proud. 

TW: What do you like to do outside the gym? 

Hakima: I mostly snuggle with my dogs. I enjoy any time that my kids(teenagers) will spend with me. I also love spending time with family and friends. 

TW: What is your favorite song to workout to? 

Hakima: I’m usually talking too loud to hear the music. If I had to pick I’d say gangsta rap even though it’s not a popular genre at the gym. 

TW: What’s one thing you’d tell someone who is curious about trying Tradewinds but not sure if they could do it?

Hakima: I would say to just start. Regardless of where you start you will get stronger and feel better with consistency. Motivation will come while you’re moving and you’ll find yourself very surprised at how much you’re capable of.

Athlete of the Month Closing Thoughts:

Tradewinds has been a huge blessing to my life. The time that has been taken by each coach to help me reach my goals makes Tradewinds truly one of a kind. I went from not being able to do squats, lunges, or step ups to all weighted leg workouts and box jumps. The sense of community and supportive faces day in and day out makes it such an enjoyable experience. I’m excited to continue to grow with all of the other athletes.
