September 2026 Athlete of the Month

This month, we’re excited to celebrate Alicia N. as our September Athlete of the Month!

Alicia has been part of the Tradewinds Fitness community for more than two years, but over the past year, we’ve seen a truly incredible shift in her consistency, commitment, and progress. She’s made her training a priority while balancing the many demands of being a mom and a working professional. Alicia continues to show up, put in the work, and challenge herself, proving that progress doesn’t happen overnight, but through the small, consistent choices we make day after day.

We’re so proud of how far she’s come and thrilled to celebrate all of the hard work she’s put in! Congratulations, Alicia!

AOM Interview

TW: Where are you from?

Alicia: I’m from Lake George, NY, in the Adirondack Mountains

TW: What do you do for work?

Alicia: I am an arts & culture fundraiser

TW: How long have you been at Tradewinds?

Alicia: June was my 2 year anniversary!

TW: What motivated you to try Tradewinds?

Alicia: I really like working out to relieve stress, and I was going through a particularly stressful time. I needed a new challenge and I’d been thinking about trying strength training.

TW: What class or session time do you usually attend?

Alicia: My schedule can be all over the place so rather than a regular time, I just try to get in at least one lift and one move class per week.

TW: Did you have a fitness background prior to starting at Tradewinds?

Alicia: I played highschool sports but since then mostly swimming, cross-country skiing, yoga and spin classes.

TW: If you could program your dream workout, what would it be?

Alicia: It sounds corny but I actually do like all of it, so even if things are especially challenging, I’m still having a great time. My dream workout is one I don’t have to come up with!

TW: What is your favorite food?

Alicia: Probably cake

TW: What is your proudest accomplishment since joining Tradewinds?

Alicia: I am amazed at my own progress. I know that sounds braggy but when I first joined I couldn’t do a lunge or a squat without holding onto something. I was dealing with years of pain and instability with my knees. The fact that I can do these things now, weighted, and with full control, is just the best result I could’ve hoped for. Strength training has helped in ways other workouts never have.

TW: How has Tradewinds helped you in your everyday life?

Alicia: I think the best and most unexpected things that’s changed is my relationship with my son, who’s 15. He also strength trains and we’ve been able to bond over something active and healthy. We will sometimes lift together and talk about routines and things we want to get better at, meal plan together, or have broad jump competitions in the kitchen, ha ha.

TW: What do you like to do outside the gym?

Alicia:  love gardening and being outside, especially on the water.

TW: What is your favorite song to workout to?

Alicia: I don’t have one favorite song but I like 80s/90s rock, punk, and hiphop to work out to. Although Soul Cycle introduced Yacht Rock Sunday rides and it became one of my favorite workouts.

TW: What’s one thing you’d tell someone who is curious about trying Tradewinds but not sure if they could do it?

Alicia: Anyone can do it. You all at Tradewinds make everyone feel welcome, safe, and strong. And experiencing your body growing stronger is the best feeling.

Athlete of the Month Closing Thoughts:

I don’t know if I have anything else to say! Except thank you, Mary and Andy. You two are just the kindest and most supportive people I know, and that also shows up in the other coaches, and the other athletes. It’s a really fun and genuine community.
