Why Moving More Matters and How to Make It Happen

In today’s fast-paced, screen-filled world, many of us are moving far less than we think and far less than our bodies were designed for. Whether you’re a regular at the gym or someone thinking about starting your fitness journey, one truth applies to everyone: moving more each day is one of the simplest and most effective ways to improve your health.

The Big Impact of Small Movements

Getting movement in during a workout is great! There are tons of benefits to a thoughtful workout routine. Additional movement is also important throughout your entire day. Walking, stretching, standing, taking the stairs, dancing around your kitchen… all of it adds up.

Consistently moving more can:

  • Improve energy levels
  • Reduce stress and boost mood
  • Support healthy joints and heart function
  • Help with weight management
  • Improve posture, balance, and mobility
  • Enhance focus and sleep quality

Even as fitness coaches, we get it, it can be hard to stay active outside of workouts. Between work, family, and other responsibilities, it’s easy to fall into a routine that’s more sedentary than we realize. Personally, there have been days where I’ve barely moved outside of taking a group class.  That’s when I realized: movement isn’t just about the gym, it’s about everything in between.

Simple changes like taking walking or standing breaks, parking farther away, or doing light mobility at home helped me reintroduce more movement into my day and I’ve felt better because of it.

If you’re already training with us, this is your reminder to keep up the momentum outside the studio. Think of your workouts as your foundation, and your daily movement as the glue that holds everything together. If you’re new or just getting started, remember: you don’t need to be perfect to make progress. Just start moving, one step, one stretch, one walk at a time.
