March 2022 Athlete of the Month

We are thrilled to announce our March 2022 Athlete of the Month is the lovely Michelle Fanning! 

 

Michelle started her journey with us nearly a year ago and is the epitome of a Tradewinds Athlete. She has never doubted our process and comes in with the same enthusiasm and passion every single day. She is tireless in her efforts to improve, making great strides every time that she is in the gym. She puts her head down, goes to work and does it all with a smile that could brighten any room. Michelle is a prime example of how creating a healthy routine and sticking to it can achieve results. She continues to amaze us everyday and we are beyond proud to have her as a part of our gym community! Congrats Michelle! 

 

 

TW: Where are you from?  

Michelle: East Boston

 

TW: What do you do for work?  

Michelle: Self Employed, Outsourced bookkeeping company with 11 customers

 

TW: How long have you been at Tradewinds?  

Michelle: Almost one year

 

TW: What motivated you to try Tradewinds?  

Michelle: I was doing a boot camp two/three times a week with Giancarlo on Winthrop Beach.  Giancarlo decided to take on a coaches position in Colardo and moved.  He said he did some research and thought that Tradewinds would be a good fit for me.  Not to big of a gym, so I would not feel intimidated.

 

TW: What group class do you usually attend?   

Michelle: Usually Tues, Thurs w/ Mikayla, and Saturday

 

TW: Did you have a fitness background prior to starting at Tradewinds?  

Michelle: Not really, just about six month of boot camp on the beach   Oh I did do Zumba….lol

 

TW: If you could program your dream WOD, what would it be? 

Michelle: I definitely like rowing (way better than the assault bike), wall ball, squats…I do NOT like burpees.

 

TW: What is your proudest accomplishment since joining Tradewinds?  

Michelle: I recently moved up from the step stool to one of the smaller boxes for Step ups

 

TW: How has Tradewinds helped you in your everyday life? 

Michelle: I have so much more energy.  Even when I do not get a good nights sleep, I have energy to conquer the day and I feel that is from exercising!!  I also MUST keep up with my two year old grandson

 

TW: What do you like to do outside of the gym?

Michelle:  I like to go out to eat (uh oh), and have a few drinks, spend time with my family and friends!  I definitely like to shop!!

 

TW: What is your favorite song to workout to? 

 Michelle: I love Journey, so anything by them or bands from the late 70s and early 80s

 

TW: What’s one thing you’d tell someone who is curious about trying Tradewinds but not sure if they could do it? 

Michelle:  Definitely try it!!  I did not think I could do the workouts, thinking that I would have to keep up with everybody.  Once I realized that I did not have to move at the same pace as everybody, but to just keep moving, I said I can do this!!

 

AOM Closing thoughts… 

Tradewinds is an extremely welcoming gym!  Every single coach greets you with a smile.  They cheer and encourage you at each workout.  The members are just as friendly.  Usually, you dread going to the gym, but I honestly look forward to it as I know that I will be seeing a smiling face each time I walk in.  Every workout is unique and I find that each coach knows what you are capable of doing and they are willing to work with you to modify (if necessary).  I am extremely happy that I decided to join (with the encouragement of my daughter Katelynn and son-in-law Brandon)!
