The Easiest Way To Improve Your Health

Last month we posted about the fundamental elements of good nutrition. Today I want to break down what I believe to be one of the most important elements and something we can start doing right away to improve our health.

Eat Higher Quality Foods.

Okay, maybe it’s not the easiest way to improve your health, but it is definitely an aspect that you can control and it definitely has some major payoffs.

First I need to explain what I mean by “Higher Quality Foods.”

My coach once told me if you can pluck it, pick it, or it has a mom, it’s real. And that’s what we’re aiming for here.

Real foods.

Not foods stuffed in a box with an ingredient list that’s longer than a paragraph with more words I can’t pronounce than words that I can. Not food that is bioengineered or packed full of added sugars, artificial ingredients, preservatives or harmful chemicals.

Foods that are fresh and packed full of nutrients that fuel us, balance our hormones, fight inflammation and give us energy. Foods that build up our immune system and support muscle growth. Foods that nourish us physically and mentally.

Food labels can be confusing and misleading. Real food doesn’t have to be.

Think vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, nuts and seeds, whole gains, dairy and dairy alternatives, and herbs & spices. And lots of different colors of them!

Incorporating a variety of nutrient-dense foods from these categories into your diet can help ensure you’re getting a wide range of essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and macronutrients to support overall health and well-being.

It’s important to also note that not all processed foods are off the table. There are plenty of foods that are minimally processed that are still packed full of high quality ingredients that support your health.

The importance of eating high-quality, nutrient-dense foods cannot be overstated. From supporting overall health and well-being to reducing the risk of chronic disease and promoting longevity, the benefits of a nutrient-rich diet are undeniable. Make it a priority to nourish your body with whole, minimally processed foods that provide the essential nutrients it needs to thrive. Your body will thank you for it, both now and in the years to come.
