Give Yourself Permission to Try

When we were younger we were probably a bit naive. We thought we could do it all. We took risks, made mistakes, and kept moving forward. Sometimes it paid off, sometimes not so much. If we saw it with an open mind it was a good lesson. But we were still willing to take those chances and try.

As we get older we may find ourselves taking less risks, avoiding mistakes and having a harder time picking ourselves back up and continuing to move forward from any obstacle that we face. We may even avoid taking a chance on something altogether for fear of the challenge itself or even the potential to fail.

But guess what, that’s okay. It’s okay to change. To think through things a bit more. To make “smarter” decisions.

It’s also okay to still make mistakes.

Yes, we probably do have more responsibilities now and more people who count on us, so we may have become more risk averse to ensure we can continue to care for those who rely on us.

But it is also okay to give yourself permission to still try.

Regardless of what stage you are at in your life, and what responsibilities you may have. At the end of the day you still have the opportunity to learn and grow and improve your life and your circumstances.

Don’t be afraid to take a chance on yourself. Don’t let the idea of failure hold you back.

Most likely you won’t look back and regret having tried and maybe failed, for in any failure there is always an opportunity for growth.

If you don’t ever try, you may look back and regret that you were never willing to take a chance in the first place. Wondering what could have been if you gave yourself permission to try.

If you’re feeling stuck or afraid to take the next step ask yourself what do you really have to lose from at least trying.

If you need more help than that, ask for it.

You’re worth it.
