Athlete of the Month – February 2019

Latoya is our Athlete of the Month for February!

Latoya has been a member of the Tradewinds Fit Family since August 2017, when she crushed her Elements Program. She recently started participating in our internal competitions and is ALWAYS tons of fun to have in class, especially when she whips out her phone and starts Instagram storying her fitness journey.

Congratulations Latoya for all your hard work!

Athlete of the Month Interview:

Where are you from?

I am from Philadelphia, PA

How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I’ve been doing CrossFit since August 2017.

What motivated you to try CrossFit?
What motivated me to do CrossFit is the challenge. I wanted to be apart of a fitness organization that challenge me mentally and physically.

What group class do you usually attend?
I usually attend the 7pm class, but I attend class that my schedule permits.

Did you have a fitness background prior to starting CrossFit?
Prior to CrossFit Tradewinds I ran for a semi-professional track and field team out of Philadelphia called Moore Elite. I ran in high school and college as well.

If you could program your dream WOD, what would it be?
My dream WOD would 15 60 meter sprints with an ab workout in between each sprint.

What is your proudest accomplishment since joining Tradewinds?
My most proudest moment at CrossFit Tradewinds is each day I make it to the gym. I am just so proud of myself for just showing up.

How has CFT helped you in your everyday life?
CrossFit Tradewinds has outlined strengths I didn’t know I had. It made me realize that when times get hard in life that you have to continue to push through and be determined to get the results you want.

What do you like to do outside of the gym?
I love spending time with my family outside of the gym. My family is the most important thing to me.
What is your favorite song to workout to?
My favorite song to workout to is Push it by OT Genesis.

What’s one thing you’d tell someone who is curious about trying CrossFit but not sure if they could do it?
For someone that is just trying CrossFit I would tell them CrossFit is 20% physical and 80% mental. If you know you can you will accomplish great things!
