August 2023 Athlete of the Month

We are beyond excited to announce that our AOM for August 2023 will be none other than the lovely Cici Falcao! A big congratulations to you Cici. 

Cici started with us over a year ago now, and has truly been a staple to our community ever since. Cici is dedicated to the long term lifestyle that is fitness. She exemplifies the fact that it’s not just about today, tomorrow or next week even, she shows up for herself consistently over the course of the long term. Cici’s commitment to health and wellness in all aspects has molded her into the balanced committed athlete that she is today. She has been patient and diligent with this fitness journey. She has spent the time and energy to excel in things that once challenged her. Most importantly, she always does it with a smile. If you get the opportunity to workout with Cici, you will likely feel the way her positive energy and lighthearted approach to the gym really pours into every class she takes with us. Cici is an amazing example to the community of how much hard work really pays off. We are so proud to have her represent Tradewinds and thank her for her continued support! 

TW: Where are you from?

Cici: Framingham / Hopedale, MA

TW: What do you do for work?

Cici: I am the Closing Coordinator in the Closing Operations department for Notarize, Inc.

I’m also on the Governance Committee for the Boston Cares Associate Board, and a server/bartender at the Newbridge in Chelsea! 

TW: How long have you been at Tradewinds? 

Cici: A little over a year!

TW: What motivated you to try Tradewinds? 

Cici: My friend Tori brought me to a “bring a friend” day at the beach last summer! 

TW: What group class do you usually attend? 

Cici: I alternate between the 5:30AM and 5 or 6PM classes, depending on my schedule 

TW: Did you have a fitness background prior to starting at Tradewinds? 

Cici: I grew up playing soccer and have practiced yoga for 10+ years, but TW is really where I started my fitness journey 

TW: If you could program your dream WOD, what would it be? 

Cici: Might be an unpopular opinion but I like when we row! Also a fan of goblet squats, abmat sit-ups, and lifting! Definitely no jump rope

TW: What is your proudest accomplishment since joining Tradewinds? 

Cici: My proudest accomplishment since joining TW is seeing my own strength and progress with lifting.  Also running my first 5k!!!

TW: How has Tradewinds helped you in your everyday life? 

Cici: TW has provided me a safe, welcoming space to work out – my mental health and overall self confidence has greatly improved since joining!

TW: What do you like to do outside the gym? 

Cici: Practice yoga, travel, visit new libraries + bookstores, read and try new restaurants! I also spend a lot of time with my dog Obi

TW: What is your favorite song to workout to? 

Cici: When I run, I like to listen to old school Eminem and 50 Cent – really gets me fired up!

At the gym I like all music 🙂 we have some good playlists!

TW: What’s one thing you’d tell someone who is curious about trying Tradewinds but not sure if they could do it?

Cici: You are a lot stronger and more capable than you think. TW is a great place to start, the support from the coaches and athletes are amazing! 

AOM closing thoughts… 

I remember my first few months at the gym- I was self conscious and nervous, but that quickly disappeared with all the support from the coaches and athletes. Even with a busy schedule and unforeseen life changes, TW has always been understanding and welcoming to me. I have received so much support and guidance from everyone at the gym! I’m thankful to be a part of a gym community that truly cares about our health and mental wellness. I love that TW gives back to the Winthrop community as well! 

I’m grateful to have a place to go where I can focus on just myself for that one hour of class. It’s truly made such a difference and positive impact on my life
